This is a cartoon about meritocracy. As you can see, there are two students with the same IQ but from different backgrounds. The child on the left is handed several expensive opportunities as shown, one of the stepping block says, 'best books $ can buy". The child on the right only has a basic education with his parents reminding him of other obligations after school. There is a clear distinction between the two students as they both try to reach success The man in the middle tells the student on the right, with less resources, that they are not trying hard enough well in fact, they just have less resources given to them. Meritocracy is the system where those with the highest grades or the achievers receive more benefits and get chosen to do certain things. This depiction is saying that in today's education system, meritocracy is not true as those who are perceived to be more successful or have achieved more, usually are provided with the resources to succeed.
