Research Blog #2: Scouting the Territory
1. With my current topic idea is about neoliberalism vs socialism roles in government and their effects on higher education. I changed it since blog one as I had not know what topic I thought interesting or what I wanted to pursue. I changed my topic because I believed that I wasn’t as passionate in the topic and it seemed to be a topic that was commonly talked about.
2. There aren’t many sources founded online pertaining to Neoliberalism in Norway, with more reason that Norway uses a socialist role of government. However, I search that on Google because I was interested in seeing if Norway is slowly becoming neoliberalist in the new age where technology is more easily accessible. Key terms that seemed most useful are neoliberalism, education, and norway.
3. Certain books and articles seem particularly important. One book that I am interested in is Flip The System by Jelmer Evans that discusses the education and teachers worldwide.
4. From the search, and specifically from Flip The System, it opened my eyes about what more I can do with the topic of education. The book made me wonder about the ways universities use as criteria to determine the value and worth of their schools.
5. Some resources I uncovered were the World Happiness Report (2017) and PISA 2015 Results of Students Well-Being. These two are important to me because I was interested in finding something that would measure the happiness and overall well-being of students in higher education or graduates.
6. Some controversies over my topic were that neoliberalism in Norway may be popping up. However, I still need to look more into it.
